In TIME BARBARIANS, the warriors of a forgotten age wander the land. Doran (Deron McBee) and Lystra (Joann Ayers) spend their time having deep discussions, while sporting mysteriously clean bodies and perfect hair. Their village is an idyllic wonderland of peace, harmony, and very fun bath time.
When evil wizard Mandrak kills the wife of Doran, the warrior king, he immediately escapes through a time portal to modern day Los Angeles in an attempt to escape Doran's wrath. Doran follows him ...
Time Barbarians had some potential but the tone of the movie was way too serious… which sounds ridiculous when you take into account this film is in the Troma family… the same folks that brought us cult classics like The Toxic Avenger and Sgt. Kabukiman N.Y.P.D. that blended action with comedy.
About a hundred years after Paul's time, Lucian – a native of Samosata, in the former kingdom of Commagene, which had been absorbed by the Roman Empire and made part of the province of Syria – used the term "barbarian" to describe himself. Because he was a noted satirist, this could have indicated self-deprecating irony.
