Storyline The Phantom Father
American professor Robert Traum embarks on an adventurous and amusing journey through Bucovina to find Sami the projectionist, the only person alive that can tell him anything about his Romanian Jewish descent. The „Phantom Father” is not a genre movie while it doesn’t belong to a particular genre either , it is a road movie fusion, with bitter cherries comfiture topping, in which the final destination is the road itself as desert. Falk's story "The Belt", where the Phantom fights the killer of his father, was also a major influence on the story; but the name of the murderer is changed from Rama to Quill, and the 20th Phantom, played by Patrick McGoohan, is portrayed as a much older man in the film than in the comic strip.
